A limestone marble is a sedimentary rock typically composed of calcium carbonate fossils. This stone is formed when shells, sand and mud sitting at the bottom of the oceans and lakes solidify over time into a rock. Limestone marble is porous as there are many small openings between the fossil fragments. The limestone marble available at Ryne Stone is made of fossil fragments, held together with calcite.
